Originally part of a working farm, Ye Horn's Inn was born in the early 1700's when the building opened it's doors as a coaching inn. With a blacksmith and wheelwright opposite, Ye Horn's became a popular stop for travelers. Carriage drivers would stop to rest and tend to their horses. Their travel weary passengers would enjoy local ale and home cooked fayre before retiring for a good nights sleep.

Ye Horn's Inn parlour was also a regular meeting place for the locals. Here they would sit, chat and enjoy a frothy tankard of ale...or two. Many a deal was stuck between local farmers who would meet in the parlour after a long hard day on the farm.

In 1952 Ye Horn's Inn was bought by John Dewhurst, a local farmer. Whilst John continued to work the farm, the daily running of the inn fell to his wife Martha and their six daughters. After working the farm during the day, John would be found in the evenings pulling pints and serving customers.

Martha and daughter Ellen (Mark's Mum) used seasonal produce from the local farms to prepare hearty dishes for the customers. It is rumoured that they were the first to serve what is now the world famous 'Roast Goosnargh Duckling.' their delicious recipes can still be found on Ye Horn's Inn menu today.

Ellen married Reynold Woods and in 1956 they took over the running of the inn. Their son Mark inherited the family passion for traditional northern food and having trained as a chef at Courtfield Catering College, Mark Woods became Head Inn Keeper. Mark and his wife Denise are the third family generation to own and run Ye Horn's Inn.

To this day, the inn remains a family owned and run establishment. The furnishings are a reminder of the coaching era; polished copper pots, horse brasses, lamps, tankards and the yard of ale glass for the thirsty coachman.

Ye Horn's Inn is one of those rare breeds, a place that has stayed true to its heritage. Walk in and you get a true sense of nostalgia with open log fires, original wood beams, a welcoming bar and cosy dining rooms. Ye Horn's Inn still has one of the few remaining original parlours where customers can sit behind a bar and enjoy a pint of real ale.

Just like the generations before them, Mark & Denise work hard to ensure that the food is hearty and delicious, the beer is kept in top condition and customers receive a warm Lancashire welcome.
